A new Orthodox mission community is taking shape in Grove City, Pennsylvania, under the pastoral care of Rev. Fr. Spyridon Ickes. The effort has received the blessing of Archbishop Nathaniel of Detroit and the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America, along with support and guidance from Bishop Andrei of Cleveland.

Fr. Spyridon has begun celebrating the Divine Liturgy for Orthodox faithful in the area on the first and third Saturdays of each month. A recent service drew 27 people, marking an early gathering for the developing community.

For now, the mission meets in a Methodist church through an initial three-month agreement to use the space. Alongside the worship schedule, Fr. Spyridon works with Orthodox college ministry in Grove City, seeking to serve Orthodox students and welcome them into the community.

The mission’s formation brings together regular worship, pastoral care, and a local place of welcome for Orthodox Christians in the area. The community has asked for prayers for Fr. Spyridon and all those working to establish a regular Orthodox place of worship in Grove City.
